The Torii Gates of Japan have always given me a sense of mystery, especially the ones that are old and worn out. I have seen how hardworking workers carry the heavy parts manually up the mountain where the Fushimi Inari Shrine is located. Now I imagine what the workers and landscapes looked like when they were building one of the oldest Torii gates. Each Torii Gate is like a time stamp to me when the world was a little different than our present time.
